CHI Research on Uninsured Hispanic/Latinx Children Cited by 9News
9News covered the disproportionate uninsured rates in Latino children, citing data from a new study from the Center for Children and Families at Georgetown University and CHI’s Colorado Health Access Survey.
CHI data showed that Hispanic/Latinx children in Colorado without health insurance increased from about 9,000 in 2017 to 27,000 in 2019.
"What we also found in our Colorado Health Access Survey was the kids who became uninsured for the most part are U.S. citizens...they have a family member who is an immigrant and out of caution, the whole family just stays away [from health coverage]," said CHI’s Joe Hanel.
