Hometown Fun Fact

Nucla, Colorado was founded to be a socialist collective and named Nucla because it was to be the nucleus of the surrounding area.

Trenton Garber keeps CHI running smoothly. He manages contracts and subcontractors, accounting and IT vendors, facilities, and human resources. He's a collaborative leader with an extensive background in nonprofit management.

A Colorado native, Trenton returned to his home state in 2022. Previously, he was Chief Operations Officer for DCCCA, a Kansas-based nonprofit focused on behavioral health, substance use prevention, and child welfare services. At DCCCA, he held progressive positions in quality systems, systems administration, and quality improvement and evaluation. Trenton also has experience as the executive director of the Douglas County AIDS Project in Lawrence, Kansas, and in data analysis and reporting for the International Rescue Committee in New York City.

Trenton is a member of the American Society for Quality and the Society for Human Resource Management, and has earned certifications in service learning, leadership, and prevention and behavior change counseling. He holds a bachelor of arts degree in political science and government from Colorado State University and a master of public administration from the University of Kansas.
